| 1950 Citroen Traction Avant 15/6 | A rare Traction Avant ("front drive") with a big straight-six-cylinder engine. This one was the personal car of a former Citroen dealership owner and was in storage in his basement for almost 40 years until we purchased it in the fall of 2010. Eventually the car will be restored and enjoyed, but for now we're enjoying its "barn-find" patina. | |
| 1953 Willys Aero Falcon | Did you know that Willys, the famous "Jeep" manufacturer, also made cars for a few years? This is one of them. This particular Aero Falcon was purchased from one of my former co-workers in 2003. It has a fully-known history and only shows 12,347 miles on the odometer. Considering its rust-free condition, that's a very believeable mileage. | |
| 1958 Fiat 600 | A nice straight, solid car offered and sold to us by friend Tim up in NY in the fall of 2010. Bought with no engine and it needs just about everything else redone as well, but will be a nice restoration and a fun driver when finished. | |
| 1959 Fiat Multipla | Been looking for one of these (that we could afford!) for decades. In the summer of 2011, the wait came to an end. I found a Craigslist ad in Virginia and was first to call and basically bought it sight-unseen over the phone. The body is in good shape and most of its parts (allegedly) came with it, albeit in boxes inside. Will be a fun long-term restoration project. | |
| 1959 Lancia Flaminia Berlina | Beautiful local (PA) car with full history dating back to 1959. Purchased from the original owner. Full restoration was started by the previous owner; stacks of receipts for tens of thousands of dollars came with the car. A rare and beautiful example of Italy's best that was the car Nanci and I were proud to ride in on our wedding day. | |
| 1960 Fiat 1200 Cabriolet | Partially restored in the Midwest. I was contacted via email and asked if we'd be interested in completing the car's restoration. We agreed and the Folkerts family took a road-trip to the Kansas City area to pick it up and bring it home. | |
| 1960 Fiat 2100 Sedan | This car was a well-loved daily driver of an elderly gentleman from New Jersey. The previous owner didn't have as much time to enjoy it as that original owner, so it sat outside a few years before I picked it up. This is a VERY well-engineered solid car I look forward to restoring. | |
| 1960 Lancia Appia Vignale Cabriolet | A rare Vignale-bodied Lancia convertible. Purchased as a restoration candidate needing a drivetrain, a pair of doors, bumpers, etc. Located and purchased a partscar in California (thanks to Mike M. for help with that) which will make the restoration possible. | |
| 1961 Lancia Flaminia Pininfarina Coupe | One of my all-time favorite designs, and a long-time "wish-list" car. Located this one for sale in New York by a former Lancia race driver who was liquidating his collection. Good solid body, mechanicals, and interior but needs a lot of help with cosmetics and trim. | |
| 1962 International Scout "800" | Restoration project purchased from my friend Phillip R. in southeastern PA who rented an apartment to this truck's previous owner until he passed away. A rare early Scout 800 with fold-down windshield. Currently a 4-cylinder, but may receive the V8 from the parts truck I got with the package. | |
| 1964 Ford Thunderbird | Bought this car, and the 1965 parts car, from an elderly neighbor friend. The car has great options - the 390-4bbl, swiveling front seats with swing-away steering column, landau roof, red leather - and was well-cared-for until recently, when it was parked outside under a vinyl tarp. I'm pretty sure I see enough in the car's potential to return it to its once-beautiful condition. | |
| 1965 Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint | Another rare barn find, this low-production "big Alfa" was used in Europe in the late 60s and early 70s by a US soldier stationed in Italy during the Vietnam War. He brought it home and parked it in his sister's barn in 1974. There it sat until I bought it. Click the link for the whole fascinating story. | |
| 1966 Fiat 1500 Coupe | One of the rarest in the collection. A factory Coupe version of the popular Fiat 1500 Cabriolet series. Anyone know of any others out there? This particular car was discovered in and rescued from downtown Washington D.C. by friend John D. and then he sold it to me a few years later. Needs full restoration - bodywork, engine transplant, fuel systems, brakes, etc. | |
| 1966 Plymouth Fury III Convertible | A big-block 383ci with 4-barrel carburetor and 727 automatic transmission. I had known of this car for several years before finally coming to own it - it belonged to the neighbor of a local friend. A very cool old droptop big-block Mopar I really wanted to add to our collection. Once I get it running and driving, we look forward to using it for "cruise nights" as it gets restored over the years. | |
| 1967 Fiat 124 Sport Spider | Very rare 1967 124 Spider purchased from Pete A. out of Colorado; he had rescued it locally and had it for many years. This car features the dashboard-mounted heater controls, chrome steering wheel, lack of center console, and other characteristics of the VERY early 124 Spider model. | |
| 1967 Fiat 850 Spider | Owned and enjoyed by a CA resident until he was transferred to New England. His 2 1967 850 Spiders came with him. Now that he's retired, he's returning to CA, but without the Fiats. I was lucky enough to have found his ad and was the first one there with a trailer - yes, both fit on one trailer! A really nice, solid, French Blue covered headlight 850 Spider. | |
| 1967 Lancia Flavia Pininfarina Coupe | 1.8-litre Kugelfisher-injected horizontally-opposed "flat" 4-cylinder. Needs most exterior chrome, but otherwise complete and in nice shape. | |
| 1967 Lancia Fulvia Coupe | Nice original Fulvia needing complete restoration. Was originally Lancia legend Tom Sheehan's wife's personal car. | |
| 1968 Citroen DS-21 Pallas | This car was purchased off of Craigslist in Houston in early 2009 after an exhaustive search for an interesting car in Texas. The car was picked up, looked after, and worked on by good friend Csaba in Fort Worth. In March of 2010, the Folkerts family flew to Texas for a working vacation and to pick up "The Goddess" and drive her home to PA. | |
| 1968 Fiat 124 Spider | An early-production Spider found on Long Island in late 2008. This car is a three-owner German-market car and still has all the German DOT requirements. An early "pre-console" car that will be restored and enjoyed. | |
| 1968 Fiat 124 Spider | Rescued in 1995 from an Escondido, CA scrapper...several times. Now my "Ultimate Spider" project. 1968 body with 1980 nose and doors grafted on. Two-litre engine, custom interior, Minilite wheels, race springs, Koni shocks, power windows, etc...the best of everything that Fiat and the aftermarket had to offer - on one car! | |
| 1969 Fiat 124 Coupe | A good, solid, running AC purchased from a dedicated AC enthusiast in Ohio. This was his daily driver until he found another AC with which to replace it. Will be restored. | |
| 1969 Fiat 850 Coupe | I discovered this car in a field next to a junkyard in Tucson. I tracked down the owner, purchased it, and towed it across the country. Nearly rustfree and complete. | |
| 1969 Lancia Fulvia Coupe | Nice original Fulvia Coupe missing drivetrain. Will either be restored as original or modified with a modern drivetrain. | |
| 1969 Volvo P1800S Coupe | This car came with a Volvo/Triumph used-parts inventory I purchased in 2009. It's likely restorable but needs a complete drivetrain and a lot of work. | |
| 1970 Fiat 500L | Every respectable Italian car collection has to have one of these, right? Great little car that was quite a hit at our wedding, and everywhere we go with it. Recently repainted white over a nice original black interior. | |
| 1970 Fiat 850 Racer | Fiat sold the 850 Racer in 1970-71 as a special hardtop-only version of the 850 Spider. This is a great, solid car found in Texas and rescued by friend Christopher J. from whom I purchased it. Still has the Texas dealership decal on the back and the appropriate sun-faded paint. Drivetrain disassembled for restoration. | |
| 1971 Fiat 124 Sport Coupe | Local friend Dwight V. gets the credit for finding me this one. This car belonged to the wife of the owner of the Fiat dealership for which Dwight worked many years ago. It had been stored in the barn of a friend of his for decades until being offered back to Dwight, who, in turn, offered it to me. Will be restored to original. | |
| 1972 Fiat 124 Familiare (Wagon) | This car was the parts-runner/beater of Vick Autosports in Ft. Worth, Texas. I purchased it with the help of good friend Csaba V., who also graciously conducted and oversaw the partial restoration of the car. Nanci and I flew to DFW and drove it home, entering it in a major car show on the way home. Has the original automatic transmission, but at least it's mated to a twin-cam engine with electronic ignition. | |
| 1972 Fiat 128 Wagon | A very rare find that was purchased via eBay from southern Ohio. | |
| 1972 Fiat 130 Coupe | One of the nicest and rarest vehicles in the Garagemahal. 3.2-litre V6 with 5-speed ZF transmission. One of only a handful in North America, and perhaps the only one with the manual transmission. A handbuilt Pininfarina exotic. Once exchange rates are more favorable, I'll bring home the parts I've stashed in London, England for this car's restoration! | |
| 1972 Fiat 238 Wohnmobile | I first became aware of this car when Euro-model-importer friend Simon had it for sale. He brought it to the Carlisle Import show to sell and I regretted not buying it! It eventually went to friend Rich S. out in California, and many years later we bought it from Rich. This was the Oregon '09/IronButt 2009 subject car after a bit of preparation in the capable hands of Wine Country Motors in Napa and Sacramento-area friend Mike. | |
| 1972 Toyota Landcruiser FJ-40 | Had one in college in Buffalo (see former vehicles page) and always wanted another. Got a tip from a friend that one of his friends might be selling his project. Bought it with a ton of spare parts. Landcruisers are such cool trucks. | |
| 1973 Fiat 850 Sport Spider | Another amazing find from Philly. This car was partially disassembled for restoration and put into storage in 1979. That owner died and Dan bought it from his widow. This very original car may be the most rustfree unrestored 850 in the Northeast. | |
| 1974 Fiat 124 Sport Spider | Good friend Mike M. alerted me to this car his buddy was selling - good thing he remembers what's on my "wanted" page! We picked it up 2 days later from Mike's driveway in N. CA and drove it up to the Mirafiori Oregon event; 5 days later we arrived in NY in it to attend friends Sonny and Sue's wedding. We had difficulties along the way (fuel pumps, distributor leaks, etc.) but it delivered us 4,400 miles -Madelyn's first coast-to-coast trip! | |
| 1974 Fiat X1/9 | While living in Las Vegas (2002), I purchased this car from a guy in the CA desert who had as many British cars as I have Italian ones. He had to take this one with another Brit he wanted, and was happy to sell it to me. Completely original in every way, including the paint and ugly period-correct side mouldings. Drove it to FFO West in Denver and then home. | |
| 1974 Fiat X1/9 | What started life as an 'ordinary' 1974 X1/9 has become a pretty special car. Built by famous Fiat-racer Steve Hoelscher, I purchased this car in 2002 from Mark F. (who also races Fiats) in Indianapolis, IN. It's got a 1500 block, big-valve head, cams, dual 40 DCNF Webers, race springs, Konis, ATS wheels, custom exhaust, electronic ignition, etc. A car that is so much fun to both drive and show. | |
| 1975 Fiat 128 Sport Coupe | This car is a very rare 128 Sport L Coupe. It was only built from 1971 to 1975, and this is one of the last of them, manufactured in April of 1975. This particular car has a great history as well. Currently fitted with a fuel-injected 1500cc engine and 5-speed transmission. | |
| 1975 Lancia Beta Coupe | A remarkably nice Lancia rescued by friend Tom N. in New York. Body and interior are gorgeous and it needs only minor mechanical and electrical sorting to be 100 percent. | |
| 1975 Lancia Beta Coupe | Purchased in Seattle, WA in 2002 with a PERFECT tan leather interior and dual 40 DCNF carbs. Installed front Koni struts on cut springs and installed an NOS Monza exhaust and Euro Carellos. We attended Oregon 2003 and got as far as Boise, ID, where it was completely torn down and rebuilt by friend Dwight A. Completed the drive home in July 2005. | |
| 1976 Lancia Scorpion #00005 | This is the fifth Scorpion ever produced - serial number 00005. Was just in the right place at the right time to add this one to the collection. Had been lightly modified as I bought it, but nothing serious that can't be undone. Will be restored to original condition. | |
| 1976 Lancia Scorpion #01154 | I found this car in Tucson in 1996 in pretty rough shape. It didn't run, both bumpers were cracked, and the interior could best be described as "dust". But the body was solid, so I took a chance. I replaced the original carbed 1756 engine with a 2-liter FI powerplant that began life in my totalled 1982 Zagato. I've since mounted dual 40DCNF Webers on an Alquati intake. | |
| 1977 Fiat 128 3P | The rare and elusive "Tri-Porte (3P)". A near-perfect car rescued from a California wrecking yard (believe it or not!) by friend and gifted car-rescuer Mike M. Towed home to PA from California in 2004 with a Fiat Spider 2000. | |
| 1977 Fiat X1/9 | A very nice original car that originally was purchased on eBay out of California. The buyer was in Allentown, PA area and before he could even drive this car, he found a newer X1/9 to replace it with. Essentially a gorgeous time-capsule of a car with minor needs. | |
| 1978 Fiat 131 | Purchased from the original Austin, TX owner in 2002. Its rust-free original condition was amazing and even the a/c and smog systems work perfectly. With friend Csaba V.'s help, it was treated to a fresh respray, then appeared at MOFLO 2003 on the drive home to PA. I've also installed new wheels and tires, an electronic ignition, a Brava grille, and trunk spoiler. Has been invited to, and has attended, many car shows and driving events. One of our favorites. | |
| 1979 Fiat Brava Wagon | A really nice Brava Wagon discovered by Bay-area friends in California to replace Rich S.'s totalled 131 Wagon. Once Rich was done with it, it became the "family truckster" of the Dwight A. and family in Boise, ID. Nanci and I drove this car to Oregon 2006 and then home on her first-ever cross-country trip. | |
| 1979 Fiat Spider 2000 | A beautiful example of a Spider 2000. Purchased from an elderly Allentown-area widow whose husband rarely used the car before he died. Was always garaged and shows only 59,000 original miles. With the exception of the convertible top and brake master cylinder, and possibly the tires, this car is completely original and as new in every way. | |
| 1979 Fiat Strada | A restoration project I purchased from friend Dave N. in eastern PA. A 1500cc carbureted 5-speed 3-door. It received new original-color paint at the same time I bolted on the Abarth Ritmo 125TC front and rear fascia. 1987 X1/9 wheels, a CD player, sheepskin seat covers, halogen headlamps, and an ANSA exhaust make this a practical, great little car. Nanci's favorite car to ride in, actually! | |
| 1980 Fiat Spider 2000 | The only car in my history that I wish I never owned. Why? Because this car was the pride and joy of my friend Joseph "Joey Fiat" LaSala until he was killed by a drunk driver on June 25, 2002. I bought this car from his Dad and haven't been able to bring myself to do anything with it since. I'd want nothing more for this car than to be able to give it back to him. Miss ya, Joey...rest in peace, buddy. | |
| 1981 Fiat Spider 2000 Pininfarina 50th Anniversary Edition | One of the rarest Fiat Spiders, only 1000 were made to celebrate Pininfarina's 50th Anniversary. Featured "Champagne" paint, a special interior with leather seats and power windows, unique 14" alloy wheels, and special serial-numbered badges. This one is a low-mile original with all four badges AND its original window sticker. Will be fully restored. | |
| 1981 Lancia Zagato | Another car from Boise, Idaho. The original owner was a little old lady who finally agreed to sell it to friend Dwight. His wife drove the car many years before the head gasket failed. I took over from there, and with the expert mechanical preparation of friend Dave V., Nanci and I drove it across the country - towing a pop-up camper - when she was 5 months pregnant. | |
| 1982 Bitter SC | 1982 Bitter SC purchased from its second owner out of Birmingham, Alabama, where it was originally sold new. Part of the two-Bitter deal that included the white 1985. Currently has a Ford 351C V8 under the hood that needs replacement. Beautiful dark blue leather interior. | |
| 1982 Fiat Spider 2000 | A very nice local car. Rare factory black with tan interior and tan top. Fuel injected 5-speed. Installed new top and performed other standard maintenance/tune-up to bring it up to standard. | |
| 1982 Fiat Spider 2000 | A gorgeous rust-free red '82 Spider from The Woodlands, Texas. A completed father-son project with many custom touches. | |
| 1982 Fiat Spider 2000 Turbo | A very rare Legend Industries Turbo Spider. Even rarer in that it has just 20,936 original miles on it. Much of the car is like new, but it needs some work as the previous owner left it outside subjected to a few Connecticut winters. Will be restored to original condition. | |
| 1982 Lancia Zagato ("Beta Spider") | A very nice former parts car donated to me, minus its drivetrain and a few other bits, by friend Will H. in New York. Purchased a replacement drivetrain from Jim Keller and will restore the car with several modifications, the most notable of which will be manual rack-and-pinion steering. | |
| 1983 Toyota Landcruiser "FJ-60" | Purchased needing an engine, wheels/tires, and much more. Got it back close to 100 percent and put on a few thousand enjoyable miles before the used engine blew. Been sitting since, awaiting another (used) engine transplant. Will also receive a 5-speed transmission and automatic transfer case which I sourced over the years. | |
| 1984 Maserati Biturbo | 2.5-liter V6 with 5-speed manual transmission. A nice low-mile car that needed a bit of work (don't all Biturbos?). | |
| 1985 Bertone X1/9 | Rescued from a wrecking yard in the late 1990's. Has only 4,649 original miles on it, and a long story about how such a car ended up being abandoned. A new car in nearly every respect. | |
| 1985 Bitter SC | Amazing car, fascinating history. Sold new in CA to Wilt Chamberlain (according to previous owner). It then lived in CO for a few years. I purchased it in a two-Bitter deal from a guy in Birmingham, Alabama. Car has a 350 Chevy bored out to 409cc's built with all the best stuff on the market (Brodix, Edelbrock, Holley, etc). Rumbles the whole garage! | |
| 1985 1/2 Pininfarina Spider | The 1985.5 model is the very last Fiat spider variant and very few were manufactured. I've owned this car since 1996. It has tasteful and reversible modifications. I've driven it from California to the Florida Keys to New England and everywhere inbetween. One of my favorites in the garage. | |
| 1987 Bertone X1/9 | A basically nice and solid "triple-black" '87X that needs a bit of work to be returned to the road. As I have the parts and the knowledge, that's what I'll do. | |
| 1989 LaForza | A very rare Pininfarina-designed, Iveco-4x4-based LaForza with factory Paxton Supercharger. Only has 38,000 original miles on it, so this is the "garage queen" of the two we own. Found on eBay out of New Jersey in the fall of 2007. | |
| 1990 LaForza | What's a LaForza? The Italian equivalent of a Hummer - used by the European military, police, etc. with some upgraded to civilian use. Designed by Pininfarina, built by Fiat (IVECO) with a Maserati interior and Ford 5.0 engine, 4-speed automatic 4WD transmission, and Jeep transfer case. This is the "high-mileage, daily use" LaForza of the two in the collection. | |
| 1990 Yugo GV-Plus | Another eBay find, this time in the Cleveland, OH area. A beautiful original Yugo with under 40,000 original miles. Rare fuel-injected 5-speed. | |
| 1995 Fiat Barchetta | Fell in love with this car when visiting friend Jim in N.I., U.K. When he was ready to sell, he remembered how much I wanted the car, and we made a deal including shipping it over. Jim enjoyed the car one last time at FFO '11 and now it lives in our garage. The Barchetta is everything the 124 Spider would have become, front-wheel-drive excepted. Modern, powerful, and one of the most fun-to-drive cars extant. | |
| 2012 Fiat 500 Sport Prima Edizione | This is the first Fiat sold in the United States since 1982. And I don't mean this model (although that's also true), I mean this CAR. This is the lowest-serial number 500 sold - Prima Edizione #11 (1-10 and 500 were not available to the public for purchase). Keys were handed to us at the delivery ceremony by Fiat North America CEO Laura Soave. Click for full story with photos. |
