I suppose I am a true collector at heart. From baseball cards, Legos, and Matchbox cars when I was young through all the collections of today: cars, parts, dealer signs, car magazines, CDs, etc. etc. I still have most of the baseball cards and the scale-model cars I had when I was a kid; and I'm sure there's a big box of Legos around here somewhere! Anyway, we display the collection of scale model cars in a wooden China cabinet in our livingroom at the "country house", but don't worry, we have a second cabinet for our actual China. As mentioned, a few of these scale model cars survived from my childhood, but most are more recent acquisitions. I'll admit that there really hasn't been a time in my life when I wasn't buying one or another in the toy section of the store, at Carlisle, or on eBay. Today we have a few models that cost more than the full-scale (1:1) car itself. These models range in scale from a 1/87 Herpa through Matchbox-car size (top shelf), to 1/43rd (upper shelves), to 1/24th (middle shelves) through 1/18th (bottom 4 shelves) and even beyond, as a couple are larger than that. Although we don't have them all covered, the majority of our cars in Garagemahal have a smaller representatives of each of them in the China cabinet. Perhaps some cold snowy weekend I'll document them individually as was done for each of the real cars; for now you'll have to settle for the group shots above and below.
